Great Artists In Their Own Words:
Within this clip you get to think about how art is more than just a painting done years ago, this clip shows art where you seem to question if it's even art at all. Yet I believe if someone has taken the time to create a piece and call it art who are we to say it's not, everyone has different tastes and styles when it comes to art and everyone is allowed an opinion. So I also believe that art isn't as precious to everyone as it might be to you, you can choose what you like and think of art, but art is everywhere in today's world. I think it takes the precious feeling away from art if you see it everywhere you look.
The process of making something takes time, and if we are to say it's not art once someone has made the effort and thought through a piece, I think it's just rude. I strongly believe if someone has put even the littlest time into something and is proud of it, you should support them, not criticise them for not “producing real art”. Much like what happened with Andre's bricks and Richard Long’s walks.
Art isn't just a paint brush stroke, it can be a man walking in the desert, to make a line with his boots, or a man placing bricks in a certain way. Whatever you make can be art and you shouldn't have to second guess yourself because other people don't appreciate it.
Grayson Perry All In The Best Possible Taste:
After watching Grayson Perry's video I learnt that taste is a persons liking for a particular aesthetic. Different class' have different tastes, therefore I believe class effects the art you make, as you have different views of what is important to depict when you're making art. Art is something you have put time and effort into making, something you are proud of. So I think art is accessible everywhere, it just depends on what you believe is worthy. Not everyone thinks it has to be on a gallery wall to be deemed worthy, like perry's video mentioned some people believe doing up a car or getting a tattoo is worthy of being called art and we have to appreciate other peoples opinions, no matter their class.
Hollow Laughter:
I believe anything can be art, as long as the artist say's, it's their art, they've worked on it and have the right to say whatever they like about it. Even if that art is poop in a can, I believe Manzoni had a right to use this as art as it had meaning to him. Manzoni used his petty feelings to think up this idea and that's enough to make it art. I believe the petty-ness can be seen as good humour meaning you can joke and it still makes art, ask comedians.
Some comedians jokes aren't always straight forward and makes you think, meaning art can also make you work for it, and it still makes art. Yet I believe a piece of art can be straight forward or a brain teaser, it doesn't matter, be whatever artist you like. But don't get caught up on the meaning of someone else's art work. it can be beautiful and make you think, ugly and still make you think or just plain beautiful, and plain ugly. Whichever why it's someone's time and hard work be mindful of other peoples abilities. Appreciate the art surrounding us.
